January saw the beginning of a new series of classes featuring both long time friends and a new one. Carl Seyboldt began his 2008 series of lessons in both acrylic and airbrush techniques. Clyde Kirkpatrick renewed his watercolor classes and Shelli James will be starting her new beginning cake decorating classes on Jan. 29th. New to us is Kim Ragsdale who is teaching her ultra-realistic graphite drawing classes.

Our long time teacher friends who have ongoing classes include: Sue Eakin, Decorative painting and watercolors; Phyllis Faszer, tole & oils; Penny Roush, drawing and more; Jeanne Warren (Thompson) wildlife oils and more; and Carl Seyboldt, landscape acrylics and airbrush.

Phyllis Faszer is taking signups for her faux tile class. This is an approximately 3 hour long project that is so much fun. Talk about instant gratification!

A new idea for a class that has been presented to us is a palette knife painting class as demonstrated by Patti Stepp. An example of this fascinating technique is hanging in our store. It is a deeply textured, almost impressionistic, style of oil painting that is different from any that we have had before. For more information on these classes, please call Art Emporium.

Some of our new products at Art Emporium include a new pencil sharpener that is said to be very good for pastel pencils and other fragile colored type pencils. Also check out the roll of tracing/sketch paper as suggested by our friend and wonderful artist, Diana. It should be very handy for those larger, longer projects. If you have any ideas for items that we don’t carry, please let us know.
